With the combined effects of increasing life expectancy and reversal of the population pyramid, it is estimated that one in three people in Europe will be over 65 by 2060. Consumption patterns will therefore change, and older people will become the driving force behind what is now known as the ‘silver economy’. This term includes all economic activities, products and services designed to meet the needs of people over the age of 50, whether in the health, banking, automotive, leisure or insurance sectors.

The aim of this participatory workshop is to explore together the specific needs of the over-50s in different insurance sectors (car, home, pension savings, health, etc.) and to brainstorm appropriate responses to these new needs.

The session will be introduced by a presentation of the CoLab for Silver hub, launched in 2022 by Macif and the CEA to support innovation around better living and ageing. The hub brings together a variety of players (large groups, start-ups, local authorities, medical and social organisations, etc.) and focuses on experimentation in the field, with local authorities, to find cutting-edge technological solutions adapted to the ageing population and prepare them for market launch.

Throughout the workshop, participants will be invited to share their views and feedback and to work together to come up with solutions tailored to the needs of the silver generation.

Macif, Toyota and the CEA take up the challenge of ageing well within the COLLAB FOR SILVER HUB

To address the challenges of ageing well in the field, Macif has created Colab for Silver, a unique consortium. It brings together partners with a variety of expertise, who pool their know-how to promote innovation and support for senior citizens. The Hub brings together three major players: the CEA, a global expert in transition technologies; Macif, a mutual insurer close to its members; and Toyota, a car manufacturer that innovates in its sector.

Their objective is to combine their knowledge and perspectives on societal issues that concern us all: health, mobility and adapting housing for the over-65s. This collaboration aims to generate concrete innovations to serve senior citizens in local communities.
