IMA was created in 1981 at the initiative of 3 large mutual insurance companies who wanted to offer their policyholders quality assistance services by sharing resources. Today, IMA has 13 shareholders: MAIF Group, MACIF Group, MATMUT Group, SMACL, AGPM Group, MAPA, AMF Assurances, Mutuelle des Motards, MAE, BPCE Insurance, P&V Group, Unipol Assicurazioni and Wafa Insurance. The reception and services provided by the IMA Group to people in difficulties reflect their mutualist values and contribute to increasing an already very high rate of customer loyalty.
The first mission of IMA, strongly attached to the values of solidarity and the respect for people, consists of providing human, medical or technical assistance to the 35 million policyholders of the shareholder-mutuals, i.e. more than one out of two people in France. The other customers of the Group (insurance companies, health mutual companies, banks, intermediary agents, welfare organisations, sport federations, large carmakers, multinational companies...) have chosen it to provide assistance services worldwide. Every day, people in difficulties benefit from the skilled staff of the IMA Group, professionals in assistance services, as well as the skilled service providers within the network.
For increased efficiency to policyholders abroad and to European customers, IMA has established a presence in Germany, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the United Kingdom and Morocco.
Similarly, IMA is responding to the development of the product and services of its shareholders and customers by offering new and innovative services meeting the changes in the life style of the people today.
IMA has established two subsidiary companies in Nantes:
- IMA Technologies, providing automobile tele-diagnostics, management of customer relations, legal information and IT hotline.
- Inter Mutuelles Téléassistance, providing tele-surveillance to more than 53,000 homes and professional offices.
In Niort, Inter Mutuelles Habitat is another IMA subsidiary, which offers policyholders who have suffered an accident at home emergency assistance plus the possibility of receiving in-kind compensation for the repairs of their belongings (instead of the traditional financial payment). IMH also offers a number of services to support housing projects (for alteration or improvement) as well as a service for real estate diagnosis.
The IMA Group is now the leading assistance company in France and one of the leaders on the European market. Everyday, more than 45 million people have the possibility of benefiting from the know-how of IMA.
