The DEVK group is directed by two mutual insurance companies: one for life (DEVK Versicherung Lebensversicherungsverein A.G.) and one for non-life business (DEVK Versicherung Sach und HUK-Versicherungsverein A.G.). These parent companies were founded by railway workers in 1886 and 1889 respectively.

Today DEVK covers the whole range of financial and insurance services open for all private customers. Several subsidiaries are specialized in particular insurance sectors. The DEVK parent companies are member-owned (mutuals) and have no capital to remunerate. DEVK is longing for offering fair products and services and for maintaining financial strength in order to realize and improve long-term security and successful relationships at the advantage of its policyholders, employees and partners.

With some 4 million policyholders representing more than 13 million policies in all lines of insurance, DEVK is today in 4rd place on the German market in terms of home insurance, 5th in terms of car insurance and 6th in terms of public liability.
